Back in 2023, Huawei surprised everyone when they launched the Mate 60 series which featured a custom chipset built by the company. This was surprising given the trade embargos Huawei has been hit with. Now it looks like the company is ready to follow up with a successor in the Huawei Mate 70, and thanks to a teaser image, the design of the phone has been revealed.
The design of the Huawei Mate 70 was revealed on Vmall where pre-orders for the handset are live. What’s interesting about the design is that Huawei doesn’t seem to have buckled and followed recent design trends. The handset appears to maintain the same curves and rounded edges we’ve seen before.
This is versus smartphones we’ve seen in the past couple of years where curved and rounded edges have been phased out in favor of flatter edges. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the design Huawei has chosen, but in the sea of modern day phones we can’t help but feel it looks slightly dated.
In any case, pre-orders of the phone seem to be off to a great start. Apparently over 130,000 units have been pre-ordered in the first 10 hours of the phone being listed. We expect those numbers to increase once official sales kicks off. The Huawei Mate 70 series will be officially revealed on the 26th of November, so check back with us then for the details.
