Samsung Unveils its New Midrange Exynos Chip

0

Samsung recently took the wraps off the latest addition to its Exynos chipset lineup with the Exynos 1580, a 4nm SoC which we can expect to see in the company’s upcoming midrange smartphones and tablets.

The 1580’s CPU consists of a prime Cortex-A720 core running at 2.9GHz, three big A720 cores at 2.6GHz, and four A520 cores at 1.95GHz. It also packs a Samsung Xclipse 540 GPU, and the company claims a boost to performance by as much as 37%, while its NPU packs up to 14.7 TOPS of performance. As for other features, the Exynos 1580 is capable of supporting displays with up to 144Hz refresh rates, compatibility for WiFi 6E, 200MP cameras, as well as up to 4K resolution video recording at 60 frames per second.

Of course at this point in time, we’re not yet sure how the chipset performs in real-world usage as Samsung still has to launch new Galaxy phones running on the 1580. With that said though, we should see it in action once the next wave of Galaxy A-series models (which usually launch with the latest midrange Exynos SoCs) make their debut in the coming months.
