Samsung Galaxy S25 FE could be a MediaTek powered affair

0

Samsung has typically relied on chipsets made by Qualcomm or its own Exynos series. But in 2025, that could change. According to the rumors, it seems that Samsung has been in talks with MediaTek where the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE could be powered by a Dimensity chipset.

Taking a look at past Galaxy FE series, Samsung has either relied on Qualcomm or used its own Exynos chips. For example, the Galaxy S24 FE used an Exynos 2400e chipset. The Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy S21 FE used Qualcomm. So if this rumor is true, this could be the first Galaxy FE phone from Samsung to use a MediaTek chipset.

This is actually quite exciting news. MediaTek has been making headlines over the past couple of years for the improvements it has made to its Dimensity series, especially the Dimensity 9000 series which is catching up to the best that Qualcomm has to offer. MediaTek used to be viewed as a cheaper alternative to Qualcomm in the past.

That is still true to a certain extent, but considering the performance gains and features, it’s actually a good thing. There have been rumors that suggested that due to the increasing price of the Snapdragon chipsets, Samsung could use MediaTek’s chips for its Galaxy S25 series, but this report suggests that maybe it could be limited to the Galaxy S25 FE for now.
