OnePlus finds themselves banned in Germany yet again

0

A while ago, OnePlus and Oppo were in a legal dispute with Nokia over some patents. Unfortunately for the companies, Nokia prevailed which resulted in OnePlus phones being banned from sale in Germany. It was eventually resolved, but it looks like OnePlus has managed to land themselves in yet another patent dispute.

This time it isn’t with Nokia. According to the reports, it seems that this new patent dispute is with a different company called InterDigital. What’s interesting is that this dispute seems to be somewhat similar to the legal issues OnePlus ran into with Nokia a while ago. The report suggests that this patent dispute has to do with key patents for 5G and other forms of mobile technologies.

As a result, OnePlus has found themselves banned from selling phones in Germany yet again. That being said, it seems that the ban only covers the company’s phones. Other products that OnePlus is selling through its online store in Germany are still available.

The company has since issued a statement which reads, “OnePlus places high value on intellectual property rights and fair access to standard essential patents, which is essential for driving innovation in the industry. We will continue to negotiate with InterDigital and wish to solve this matter in an amicable way. Meanwhile, our commitment in Europe remains unchanged and we will continue to provide excellent products and services to our users.”
