The Galaxy Store will now require you to have a Samsung Account

0

If you’re someone who uses the Samsung Galaxy Store to download apps, it appears that moving forwards (starting from the 25th of September) you will need to have a Samsung Account to do so. This is according to a recent notice that Samsung published when users launched the Galaxy Store.

Prior to this, users who wanted to download apps from the Galaxy Store would not need to have a Samsung Account. We’re not sure why Samsung made the change, but it’s something you should take note of if you do use the Galaxy Store frequently. We know that some of you don’t like the idea of having to constantly create new accounts, but having a Samsung Account does give you access to other features.

For example, you will be able to access some of Samsung’s other services like Samsung Pay and Samsung Cloud. That being said, chances are if you use the Galaxy Store you might already own a Samsung phone and probably have a Samsung Account anyway, so this might not be a huge deal.

Another thing to note is with this change, things like app updates will be affected, so if you’ve downloaded and installed apps without a Samsung Account in the past, you will have to do so to keep those apps updated.
