That was quick, some Android handset makers will be copying this new iPhone 16 feature!

One of the new hardware features of Apple’s new iPhone 16 series is Camera Control. It’s basically Apple’s fancier term for a dedicated camera shutter button. It did catch the eye of several Android handset makers who are apparently looking to introduce a Camera Control button of their own to their devices.

This is according to a report from Tom’s Guide which claims that companies such as Realme, Oppo, and Nubia plan to introduce something similar in future handsets. It will be interesting to see their implementation of the feature versus Apple’s iPhone 16. We know we called it a shutter button, but it is a little different.

Dedicated shutter buttons on phones aren’t new. We’ve seen some implemented in the past. One of the main differences of Apple’s implementation is that it offers touch sensitive controls. It allows users to switch between different modes, zoom in and out, adjust exposure, and more.

It sounds great in theory but we’ve yet to try it out for ourselves, so whether or not it’ll be truly useful in the real world remains to be seen. If it proves to be popular, we wouldn’t be surprised if more Android handset makers were to hop on board the Camera Control bandwagon.
