A few years ago, Spotify decided to get in the hardware game with a car accessory called Car Thing. It was basically a fancy device that would let you access your Spotify account and play music. It seemed largely unnecessary, which is why the company discontinued it. Now it looks like Spotify will be offering a refund to customers who purchased the Car Thing.
According to a report from Engadget, Spotify confirmed to the publication that they will be offering refunds to customers. All they need to do is show proof of purchase, like an invoice, get in touch with customer service, and they’ll be getting their money back.
This is hot on the heels of a recent Spotify announcement. The company revealed last week that they will be bricking Car Thing devices on the 9th of December, 2024. This obviously did not sit well with customers who paid good money for it. Prior to the announcement of the refund, some customers said that when they reached out to Spotify’s customer service, they were only offered a few months of Spotify Premium access.
A recent report from Billboard also revealed that there is a potential class-action lawsuit that was filed. In any case, if you bought a Spotify Car Thing, you can get a refund by reaching out to customer service and showing proof of purchase.
