Samsung is making its upcoming mid-range phones easier to repair

Companies have a lot of incentive to not make their products easy to repair. For starters, it means you’ll have to pay them more to repair your device. Secondly, it encourages people to just buy a new device instead of paying to fix it. Thankfully, Samsung is changing that as its upcoming mid-range phones will be easier to repair.

Samsung is expected to announce new mid-range phones soon. This will come in the form of the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55. According to a report from GalaxyClub.nl, Samsung has published the repairability scores of both phones. The Galaxy A35 scored an 8.5 out of 10. The Galaxy A35 scored slightly lower at 8.4 out of 10.

For context, both its predecessors scored 8.4 and 8.3 respectively. According to Samsung, one of the reasons they gave for a higher score is because of fewer complex tools required to disassemble the phones. Parts are also said to be easier to detach, and replacement parts will be made available for longer.

That being said, we reckon that most people would still send their phones to a repair shop anyway. But the ease of repair means that repairs might take less time and could potentially cost less. Samsung hasn’t officially announced both phones yet, but we expect that it should be soon.
