Nanoleaf’s latest smart bulbs offer Matter compatibility

0

One of the problems with smart home devices in the early days is that not all of them support the platform of your choice. For example, some might officially support Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant, but there’s no support for Apple’s HomeKit, making it harder for you to group and control your devices if you’re an iOS user.

For those who are looking to put together a smart home that offers the widest compatibility, you might want to take a look at Nanoleaf’s latest smart bulbs – the Essentials Matter GU10 and the Essentials Matter Recessed Downlight.

If you’re wondering what the big deal is, Matter is a new smart home standard that aims to unify smart home devices and make them work cross-platform. Since companies like Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung (and more) played a role in the creation of Matter, this means that any smart home devices that are Matter compatible will work nicely with your device and platform of choice.

With the Essentials Matter GU10, this is a smart bulb that uses the GU10 socket so if you have any lamps or fittings at home that use GU10 that you want to make smart, this could be a good choice. It offers over 16 million color options and offers a max brightness of 400 lumens. As for the Essentials Matter Recessed Downlight, this is perfect for users who want a recessed lighting system that can be hidden in the ceiling.

Similar to the GU10, it has over 16 million color options to choose from and can go even brighter up to 600 lumens. The GU10 bulb will be priced at $49.99 for a 3-pack, while the recessed downlight will go for $34.99 per unit, or $119.99 for a 4-pack.

Last but not least, Nanoleaf has also announced a partnership with Umbra to create the Cono Portable Lamp and Cup Lamp. These are smart table lamps that also feature Matter compatibility with a unique design thanks to the collaboration with Umbra. The Portable Lamp will be sold for $95 and is expected to ship in November, while the Cup Lamp will arrive in early 2024.
