It used to be that social media platforms were designed to allow users to post updates of their lives and share it with friends and family. These days, it has become a lot more than that and many of these apps, like Facebook and Instagram, allow users to make video calls with each other.
It looks like that could be a feature coming to the X app in the future. This is according to a post by X user @aaronp613 who discovered within the iOS app’s code, there is mention of voice and video calls for the iOS version of the app. It also mentions that this could be a feature exclusive to premium subscribers.

Note that while this is for the iOS app, presumably there could also be a similar feature for the Android app that hasn’t been reported. It is unclear how these features will work, but it could be a good idea to encourage more people to pay for X’s subscription service.
We have to wonder though, with there being plans to eventually start charging all users a subscription to access X’s service, will those users have access to voice and video calls, or will they still need to purchase a premium subscription to get in on the action? There’s no mention of when these features will launch, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
