While we await the much-anticipated arrival of Android 14, Google meanwhile has rolled out the September feature drop for Android, which bring some useful new features for its flagship mobile platform.
This includes the new Assistant at a Glance Widget, which uses AI to deliver precise weather alerts, travel updates, as well as upcoming calendar reminders. For users experiencing difficulty with their vision, Google has included updates with Image Q&A on Lookout, which makes visual content more accessible using integrated AI. The Lookout app has also added several new languages including Japanese, Korean and Chinese, bringing the total number of supported languages to 34.
Android phones will also begin to support Google Wallet Pass photo import, which allows users to digitize passes that have a barcode or a QR code on them, such as gym or library cards. Users can upload an image of the pass to store a digital version of it in their Google Wallet app.
For Android Auto, new communication including Webex by Cisco and Zoom, will allow users to join conference calls by audio, and browse meeting schedules from their vehicle’s display. Active calls are managed via Android Auto, so users can mute your microphone or end the call when finished.
Finally, users can keep an eye on their Fitbit and Google Fit activity and sleep data via personal Routines. Users will need to add their sleep time to their Good morning Routine and trigger the “Hey Google, good morning” catchphrase to hear a recap of their stats.
