Sony Xperia fans are in for a treat – the Japanese electronics giant has teased an upcoming product launch, which is scheduled for May 11. The event was announced via a post from Sony’s Xperia Twitter page, and features a video that teases some scenic camera action.

Not much details were shared in the post, save for the words “Next-gen Sensor. Next-gen Imaging. Next ONE is coming.” This most likely points to the upcoming Xperia flagship, which is highly expected to come with a one-inch camera sensor, a hardware trend that’s been rapidly adopted by a number of smartphone manufacturers. The phone is set to be revealed via a YouTube stream on 1:00 PM Japan Time / 6:00 AM CEST.
A month ago, several product renders regarding another upcoming Sony smartphone were shared online by The Tech Outlook and @OnLeaks, although the device in question falls under Sony’s midrange handset range.
Going back to the upcoming Sony launch, the company has so far kept mum on any details regarding other hardware specifications, or even pricing. Xperia fans will have to wait a bit longer for the event, which premieres just a day after the opening of this year’s Google I/O conference.
