Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s external display could see a massive upgrade

0

The external display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series has always been kind of small. It isn’t really intended to be used as the main display, but rather a display to see notifications, the time, and other some snippets of information, but that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t be more functional.

For those who kind of had a gripe with the external display of the Flip series, then you might be interested to learn that according to a tweet by Ice Universe, they are claiming that the external display of the upcoming Flip 5 will be larger. It is unclear how much larger it will be, but the tweet claims it will be bigger than that of Oppo’s recently launched Find N2 Flip.

For context, the Find N2 Flip’s external display measures in at 3.26-inches, so we suppose it will be larger than that, although exactly by how much remains to be seen. Assuming that is true, it will be quite a huge leap because the Flip 4’s external display is 1.9-inches, so the difference will be extremely obvious.

Having a much larger external display could make the phone a bit more functional when it is folded shut. Giving users more screen real estate could mean that users can use more apps with it, like maybe a navigation app where more information can be shown so that users don’t have to flip their phones open.

It could also make it easier for users to potentially reply to messages or emails from the external display itself. In any case, take it with a grain of salt for now, but Flip owners, is a larger external display something you have been hoping for?
