The Google Play Store houses all kinds of content, ranging from apps, to TV shows, to movies, ebooks, and more. Even amongst the apps, there are apps for smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, TV, and more.
For those who have bought into the Google ecosystem and might own a Google-powered smart TV, a Chromebook, a Wear OS smartwatch, and an Android phone, you probably have a ton of apps for the different devices you own. This can be confusing, but Google is trying to simplify it with a Play Store update.
As spotted by 9to5Google, it appears that Google has rolled out a small update to the Play Store where there will now be a new “Other devices” tab under the App section in the app. Tapping on “Other devices” will show you apps that are designed for non-smartphone devices, like smartwatches, smart TVs, and more.
This will make it easier for users to search for new apps for non-smartphone devices that they own. It will also make it easier for discovery purposes, which in turn should help developers since their apps will now be easier to find. These changes should be live so if you previously had a hard time searching and filtering apps for non-smartphones, hopefully this should help.
