It has been rumored for a while now that Google could be working on a foldable Pixel phone. It started when it was noticed that Google was introducing support for foldable phones in Android, which led to speculation that the company could be looking to create its own foldable.
The closest we’ve come so far to actually seeing it would be in the latest beta of Android 12L where some animations have clued us in on what to roughly expect. Now according to the latest report from 9to5Google, they have revealed a potential name for the upcoming handset which will apparently be known as the Google Pixel Notepad.
The publication points out that another potential name was Logbook, but for now Notepad is currently in the lead. They also note that there is a chance that things could change ahead of the device’s launch, so don’t get too attached to the name just yet.
The report also goes on to reveal other details such as pricing. No specific pricing was mentioned, but apparently it is expected to cost less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which was launched at a price of $1,799. We’re not sure how much cheaper the Pixel Notepad could be, but hopefully it will be cheaper enough to be a compelling alternative to Samsung’s offerings.
There is still no word on when the phone will launch, but perhaps Google might have more to share at Google I/O later this year.
