It’s been a few years since the Arlo Go was released, so it was only a matter of time before the wireless security camera saw an upgrade. The day has arrived, as the Arlo Go 2 has been announced, bringing with it a few major upgrades over its predecessor.
With the Arlo Go 2, you now have the option to use either a Wi-Fi or LTE connection, with Arlo initially partnering with Verizon for the cellular connectivity. The company does plan to expand this and make the Go 2 available through other retailers sometime in the future.
As for the capabilities of the Arlo Go 2, there’s a built-in microSD card slot for local recording, along with an upgraded 1080p camera. Arlo has included a 12X digital zoom, motion alerts that are adjustable up to 23 feet, and a 3,660mAh rechargeable battery. Night Vision mode has also been upgraded, with an integrated spotlight using 850nm LEDs that are rated to illuminate up to 25 feet around the camera.
Since the most obvious reason to consider the Arlo Go 2 is for camping or being outdoors, the Go 2 is rated for IP65 weather resistance. You’ll also be able to use two-way audio courtesy of the built-in speakers and microphones, while also being able to play a siren to ward off any strangers from approaching.
Finally, the company is including a three-month trial of Arlo Secure with every purchase. This provides additional features such as 30-day rolling cloud storage, 24/7 Emergency Response, and personalized notifications.
If you’re interested in the Arlo Go 2, you’ll be able to purchase one starting today from Verizon for $250. As expected, you will need to add the Go 2 to your existing Verizon account in order to use the integrated LTE compatibility.
