Samsung Galaxy S22 could finally bring back super-fast charging

We’re just a few weeks away from seeing Samsung’s next lineup of phones announced, but the leaks and rumors have already started in regards to the Galaxy S22 series. The latest of which claims that Samsung is currently testing 65W fast charging for the entire Galaxy S22 lineup.

Starting with the Galaxy Note 20 and continuing with the Galaxy S21 lineup, Samsung capped “fast charging” speeds at 25W. This pales in comparison to the 65W charging speeds found in the OnePlus 9 Pro, and 67W for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

For one reason or another, Samsung opted to take a step back at a time where other phone makers are pushing the limits of charging speeds. But if this new rumor is to be believed, Samsung’s at least in the testing phase of 65W speeds with its 2022 flagship.

As for the reference to “Rainbow RGB”, Rainbow is supposedly the codename for the Galaxy S22. “RGB” signifies each of the devices, including the standard S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. All this means is that Samsung could bring faster charging to all three devices slated to launch next year.

Other rumors for the Galaxy S22 point to larger camera sensors to be used in the lineup. Samsung could also be working on a partnership with camera maker Olympus. It’s unknown whether this partnership will be in regards to the camera hardware. But our guess would be that it has more to do with image processing and tuning after you’ve already snapped your pictures.

It’s not even August, but these early rumors and leaks point to Samsung gearing up to take 2022 on by storm. But first, we’ll need to see how well the company does with its next lineup of foldable smartphones which are poised to replace the Galaxy Note series this year.
