Nubia, a company that some of you might know when it comes to smartphones, seems to be working on expanding their product categories, or category. According to a report from Android Authority, it seems that Nubia could have a new smartwatch in the works based on an FCC filing that they spotted.
According to the FCC filing, the device in question is apparently called the Red Magic Watch. It’s not particularly creative, but we suppose it does convey what kind of device it is, and it also suggests that this device will be part of the company’s Red Magic mobile device lineup.
The FCC filing was also accompanied by photos which shows a circular watch design and what appears to be silicone straps. Its external design doesn’t really scream “unique” or “special”, so we’re not sure what its selling points would be. It does appear to come with the usual features one might expect from a smartwatch like GPS, GLONASS, and QZSS positioning technology, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, and a heart rate sensor placed on the underside of the watch.
The good thing about Nubia’s smartphones is that they aren’t particularly expensive, so we can only hope that the Red Magic Watch will follow a similar pattern. There’s no word on when the device will be launched, but hopefully the FCC filing is a sign that it could be announced soon.
