Huawei wants to challenge the FCC’s ruling that they are a national security threat

Huawei is officially still part of the US Entity List over the belief that the company poses a national security threat over alleged ties with the Chinese government. Huawei, of course, insists that they are not spies, but clearly the governing US bodies do not agree, whether it’s based on evidence or if it’s part of some kind of political agenda.

That being said, Huawei has had enough and has since filed a lawsuit against the FCC in which the company is challenging their ruling, which Huawei claims has seen the FCC exceed its mandate by ruling that the company is deemed as a national security threat. They also argue that they did not give Huawei a chance to defend itself.

Huawei is not alone in their fight against the US government. Not too long ago, Xiaomi had also filed a legal complaint against the US Defense and Treasury Department, challenging the ban placed against them. Huawei and Xiaomi aren’t the only companies that are facing pushback from the US government when it comes to doing business in the US. ZTE had also faced similar accusations of being “spies” and being a national security threat.

That being said, whether or not Huawei will have better luck with the Biden administration remains to be seen, but some have expressed skepticism on that front. This is because Gina Raimondo, President Biden’s nominee for Commerce secretary, had previously stated that there was no reason that they should remove Huawei from the Entity List.
