Street View has long been a feature on Android phones, available with a tap from many a location. It’s a great way to check out the surroundings of a specific address, but it’s not easy to just explore various streets straight from the map view.
This is unlike the desktop site, where there’s a street view button that shows every street that has the street view. And let’s be honest with ourselves; we’ve all gone on a Street View exploration spree.
Thankfully Google is fixing this with a new layer. When you hit the layer button in the top right, you’ll soon see a “Street View” layer that will show every street that can be explored from the ground. Tapping on a street will bring you directly into Street View.
While not everyone has this feature right now, a few people are already seeing it roll out to their devices. It’s likely a server-side rollout rather than an app update. If you’re interested in checking it out, boot up Google Maps and see if you have the new layer. If not, you should get it relatively soon.
