A lot of device owners are trying to figure out when they’re favorite smartphones will be updated to the latest version of Android, and this includes those in the Nokia camp. The company has been testing Android 8.0 Oreo for devices such as the Nokia 6 and Nokia 3, but those with the Nokia 2 have been left in the dark, for the most part.
Hi! It will receive Android Oreo. 1GB RAM devices will be supported on 8.1 release where many of the Android Go memory management improvements will be integrated. Nokia 2 performance will only get better over time!

Late last night, Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer for HMD Global, confirmed that the Nokia 2 would, in fact, get Android Oreo. However, the wait will likely be a bit longer than other Nokia devices as the Nokia 2 will be updated to Android 8.1 Oreo, and not Android 8.0.
In his response on Twitter, Sarvikas also stated that the budget device would be receiving a few “Android Go memory management improvements”. However, since a device cannot be upgraded to the Android Go program, HMD Global will work on integrating some of the best features of Go into the Nokia 2.
Unfortunately, Sarvikas stopped short of sharing any timeline for such an update, but considering the fact that the Nokia 3 and Nokia 6 have not officially been updated to Android 8.0, there’s still a bit of time left to wait. Nonetheless, it’s still great to see a representative so open about software updates, hopefully, the company just follows through on the backend.
