Twitter is a finicky social network in regards of dealing with the amount of hate one can receive for a 140-character tweet. Harassment has been running rampant on the site for quite some time, and every time Twitter attempts to combat the issue, more problems arise.

The social network has attempted to put a stop to this issue with its “Mute” features, but those were fairly limited as you could only mute accounts. Now, Twitter is expanding the Mute to include a whole lot more.

Starting today, Twitter is including the ability to mute keywords, phrases, and entire conversations. There’s no word of when/if this will be coming to the Twitter mobile application, but there is hope that the company will make this feature available once it has rolled out for everyone.

Twitter is also expanding and “retraining” its support teams to help combat the abusive behavior. These teams have been trained on the “cultural and historical contextualization of hateful conduct” in an effort to create a “faster and more transparent process”.

We’ll hope that these changes actually do some good and get rid of the trolls and hateful people that are harassing others. What do you think about Twitter’s new changes? Let us know below.
