Samsung is working on a mini Galaxy S7 with the same Snapdragon 820

If you want a really great Android devices these days, you’re probably going to get a phone that is bigger than you want. There’s no getting around it. Good phones are big phones. When manufacturers do make “mini’ phones (a.k.a. normal size), they tend to have weak specs. It’s always a trade-off. A new rumor suggests Samsung will be bucking this trend.

Samsung has released “mini” variants of their devices before, but if a new rumor is true, this could be their first mini flagship. The rumor comes from a Taiwanese site called Apple Daily, of all places. They claim Samsung is going to launch a Galaxy S7 Mini with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 as the full-size model.

The Mini version will have a 4.6-inch display, just slightly smaller than the 5.1-inch display on the full-size S7. Other specs for the Mini include 3GB of RAM, 720p resolution, and 12MP camera. They also claim the device will be just 9.9mm thick. These specs would be amazing for a “mini” device. Hopefully, Samsung will see great success with this device. It could start a new movement toward powerful “mini” phones.
