With a good majority of Android devices launching with some version of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside, it’s tough to know exactly how other processors compare. For many of you, Snapdragon is all you know. This year we’ve seen a sort of resurgence in the affordable, but still kind of high-end smartphone market. While all have attractive price points, the problem is many of these devices don’t feature the same kind of processor. There’s the ASUS ZenFone 2 with an Intel chip, Motorola Moto X Pure with a Snapdragon 808, OnePlus 2 with a Snapdragon 810, or even the BLU Pure XL with a MediaTek Helio X10 — all with varying amounts of cores and clock speeds, but roughly around the same price.
The question on your mind is whether or not there’s a noticeable difference in real-world speed on these phones. Thankfully Beau HD over at PhoneDog was able to put a few of these devices through their paces, pitting them against one another in a quick speed test battle. The three devices going head-to-head are the OnePlus 2 ($300), Moto X Pure Edition ($400), and that BLU Pure XL ($350) we showed you guys a few weeks back. The results are actually quite surprising and could change any preconceived notions you had about the MediaTek Helio X10. Take a look.
Alright, so the real-world speed test is anything but definitive. If done again, it’s entirely possible the Moto X Pure Edition may have come out on top, but that’s not the point. What we found impressive was just how well the BLU Pure XL was able to keep up, not even that it was able to beat the other handsets.
We know, there are still a great deal of other factors to consider. We don’t know how well Pure XL will perform over time (our Galaxy S6 took a nose dive in speed after a few months), what kind of bugs it will face, ROM support, timely Android updates, customer service — the list goes on and on. But if the speed of the MediaTek processor was one of things that had you second guessing the BLU Pure XL, this video could help rest some of those fears.
