Sony — or US carriers, for that matter — still haven’t made a peep about the Sony Xperia Z5 coming to the US, but that doesn’t mean it’s not headed to other regions. In a tweet posted today, Sony Canada confirmed that both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium will be launching in Canada sometime this fall, but didn’t give an exact date. This apparently comes as good news given Sony passed on offering up the Sony Xperia Z3+ and the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet back in July.
For our friends on the other side of the pond, Carphone Warehouse is now accepting pre-orders for the Z5 (£550) and Z5 Compact (£450) where they have a 2 week exclusive in the UK. Customers are given the option to pay for the phones via monthly installment payments of £42 a month for the Z5, and £33.50 for the Z5 Compact. Unfortunately there’s nothing available for the 4K touting Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, but thems the breaks.
When it comes to the US release, there’s still nothing. Not even from Verizon who launched the Sony Xperia Z2 as the Z3v last year. We have a feeling Sony might be planning to sell them unlocked with full LTE support in the US (they did this last year), but it’s going to be a tough sell with all the lower priced competition arriving this year. Anyone have their hearts set on the Xperia Z5 line?
