Polaroid shows off a new line of Android phones geared toward photography

You’re probably wondering why Polaroid is making Android phones. The truth is they aren’t. The Polaroid brand has been licensed out to other manufacturers, so we actually have no idea who built the phones we’re about to talk about. All we know is they felt the Polaroid name would be better than their own.

We got our hands on the Polaroid Selfie, Flip, and Snap. The Polaroid Selfie is the most interesting because it appears to be almost identical to the Oppo N3. The 13MP camera can be flipped to take a photo from the rear or front. It also has an Octo-core processor, though performance did not seem to match that claim.

The other two devices are barely noteworthy. The Flip has the same 5.5-inch display as the Selfie, but the 8MP camera doesn’t actually flip (yes, the Flip does not flip). The Snap is the smallest of the bunch with a 4.7-inch display and a quad-core processor. All three devices run Android 5.0 Lollipop. No pricing or release date was given.

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.

  1. The flip doesn’t flip.. #Fail

  2. There are so many options in the world of Android I often wonder how some the smaller manufacturers stay afloat.

  3. Well, those look like they need to be recycled.

  4. Definitely from some Chinese OEM that produce their own devices along with knock-offs, such as iNew, Elephone etc.
    The Oppo knock-off is a N1 clone and not a N3

  5. Marketing department needs to be shot! How does the flip….not flip?!?!?!?!

  6. whoops! great speed lol seriously tho, the swivel camera looks pretty cool

  7. Wow ! A Polaroid phone geared towards photography ??? What a twist !

  8. At least it has lollipop unlike some other small manufacturers.

  9. The death throes of a once great brand.

    1. It’s more like Weekend at Bernies. Polaroid died a long time ago. Some venture capital found it’s corpse and is now parading their name around to hawk repurposed crapware.

  10. It’d be great to hear “Look at my Polaroid”, “Get a Polaroid!”
I would think this would harm their image more than anything due to the not so great function, at least they’re getting paid.

  11. The Flip does not flip. I’m out.
