If today’s unveiling of the Motorola RAZR M looked familiar to you, that’s because you’ve probably seen it before. A few months back, images of the device were originally leaked as a joint effort between by Motorola and Intel to release Moto’s first device with Intel inside. If you’ve been keeping up with today’s Motorola event coverage, you may have noticed not a single word was mentioned about Intel. So what gives?
Well, the folks Pocket-Lint got word from Motorola that the plan is to release the UK version of the device that will swap out the Qualcomm chip, in favor of an Intel one. Expect everything else about the RAZR M to remain the same when it becomes available in the UK on September 18th.
Intel Atom still sucks compared to the latest ARM chips.
You can’t make fun of the powervr gpu that will be in this. It’s the one thing iPhone still has over Android.
Current Android GPU’s are in the same performance tier as the PowerVR, no?
Please release this to all carriers at the same time.
Can’t say I’m 100% sure on this but, I’d bet my hat 9/10 times, a motorola android device goes to Verizon or its subsidiaries.
I’d bet 11/10 times that a Motorola DROID device goes to Verizon only. :p
I like everything about this phone except the double chin.
I like that it is designed to be water resistant. That should be the new standard.
My big question is will many android apps even work with the intel instead of ARM? I ask because not all apps use java, many use c/c++
None of the native coded (Most games), big flop
September 18, UK, Intel… is this the “edge” we’re going to be taken to? I guess it’s still impressive given Moto’s bezel history.
