T-Mobile’s MyTouch tradition continues, this time with Huawei doing the honors, releasing 2 “MyTouch” branded handsets for ‘ol Magenta launching this summer. The MyTouch and MyTouch Q are the latest mid-range devices to be offered by T-Mobile with all the features you’ve come to expect from a MyTouch. Both devices feature identical specs, only the Q comes with a handy slide out, 4-row QWERTY keyboard. That’s sure to be a hit with the kids.
Huawei’s MyTouches feature the same 4-inch WVGA displays, 1.4 GHz processors, 5MP cameras (with complimentary front-facing), and run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Speaking of software, you’ll notice T-Mobile’s familiar “MyTouch” UI — one time known as “Espresso” — featuring a tweaked app drawer, super easy setup, and improved Genius Button 4.0 (now capacitive).
Huawei’s all new MyTouch and MyTouch Q will be released on August 8th for $50 after $50 mail-in rebate (essentially $100).

With Genius Button 4.0 customers have access to the new Genius Web Search, featuring new voice-command capabilities such as direct search among multiple sources, direct app launch, and even the ability to make dinner reservations.
- Simple Setup: The new myTouch devices feature an onboarding experience that allows users to set up what’s important without having to deal with extra steps, including a simple login process, a tips widget and tutorials for the most-used features of Android.
- Enhanced App Drawer: A redesigned app drawer gives customers quick access to recently used apps, a separate tab for all downloaded apps, and an easy way to search their app collections by text or even by voice.
Manufactured by Huawei, the 4G-enabled T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and feature a speedy 1.4 GHz processor for fast performance. I would say no ICS this far into the OS’s life cycle is a fail however who’s to say that hardware can even handle ICS practically. Also, anyone BUYING any of those phones probably don’t even CARE about ICS.
Still, it’s amazing how far we’ve come with hardware. With a 1.4Ghz processor and 4 inch screen it kind of puts these phones on par with the original Galaxy S phones.
I wonder what HSPA+ modem is inside these guys? I’m betting 14mbps since they are low end. If they were 21mbps I would be blown away.

but… Hauwei? I kinda feel funny the brand name “Hauwei”?
Seem like piece of crap…. HTC, Samsung or Sony is good brand name… but Hauwei? If this phone come with HTC or something like… i probably buy… but not Hauwei.. i ll wait in 6 month or my contract is up… maybe i ll go for Samsung S3 by T mobile…
Rag on the name but if you saw their Ascend line of phones, you would accept the name. Also this line of myTouch has very high build quality.
The fact that it is shipping with Gingerbread is really bad. It makes no sense to ship anything without at least ICS, let alone JB.
This is what hurts TMO.
I thought Wah-Way wanted to get rid of their image as budget phone makers. Way to fail with that single core device with GB…

Explain to me how this phone is even relevant. 2 years ago we had the HTC MyTouch 4G. 1Ghz processor and 3.8″ screen. First use of the “genius” button. Then we get the LG MyTouch: same processor and 3.5″ screen. Now we get the Hauwei MyTouch: 1.4Ghz processor and 4″ screen. The MyTouch line went from one of the top-of-the-line phones in 2010 to really a phone at the upper end of the low-end. One can look at this and say that the specs really haven’t changed in 2 years. T-Mobile is just finding folks to keep making the phone more and more cheaply. The other carriers have a wealth of options, whereas T-Mobile has only 2 options at the high-end, let alone the mid-range. SMH
