With Capcom keeping the Resident Evil franchise alive and well on console, it was only a matter of time before we saw a new mobile spin-off of the series. That said, Capcom recently teased that it’s been working on a new smartphone entry, dubbed “Resident Evil: Survival Unit”.
Not much has been revealed about the game so far, other than it will be released in collaboration with Aniplex, and developed in partnership with JOYCITY. Additionally, the game will be available for Android and iOS users within North America, Europe, Japan, South Korea, and select regions in Asia. As per the game’s official press release:
Resident Evil: Survival Unit offers a fresh take on the beloved franchise, reimagining the survival horror universe as a real-time strategy experience optimized for mobile platforms, iOS and Android… The game is designed to appeal to both longtime fans and new players.
This isn’t the first time that the Resident Evil franchise has appeared on smartphones however, with titles like Resident Evil 4 making an appearance on Android devices many years ago, along with ports of newer games such as Resident Evil Village on iOS devices.
Going back to Survival Unit, the game’s official YouTube channel has also scheduled an online presentation, which goes live on July 10 at 3PM PT/6PM ET. You can check it out here.
