HONOR Magic V5 is now the world’s thinnest foldable phone

0

HONOR just launched the Magic V5, the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. While it’s currently available in China only, the device clearly targets Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and OPPO’s Find N5.

The Magic V5 measures just 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.8mm when folded. That already beats the OPPO Find N5 on thickness, but the white vegan leather model goes even thinner at 4.1mm and 8.8mm. Other color variants like Black, Gold, and Reddish Brown come in slightly thicker at 4.2mm and 9mm due to their glass backs.

It’s also lighter than most of its rivals. The white model weighs 217g, while the glass-backed versions weigh 222g. Despite being so thin and light, the phone still has IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Under the hood, HONOR uses Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. A 5,820mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the phone, which supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The main display is a 7.95-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. The cover screen is 6.43 inches and uses the same high-end tech and brightness. On the back, you’ll find a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP periscope telephoto. Both displays also feature 20MP selfie cameras.

Pricing starts at CNY8,999 (around $1,256), but expect differences once the global version launches—possibly at IFA 2025 in Berlin.
