Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 teaser promises thinnest, lightest foldable yet

0

Samsung is turning up the hype for its next foldable flagship. This time, it sounds like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is all about cutting down the bulk. In a new video teaser and blog post, Samsung promises the next “Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet.”

Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

It’s a bold claim—and honestly, Samsung needs to back it up. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 lost ground to the Honor Magic V3 and Oppo Find N5, both of which beat it in thinness and overall design.

For reference, the Find N5 is 8.93mm folded and 4.21mm unfolded. The Fold 6, by comparison, is 12.2mm thick folded. It’s pretty chunky for a 2024 smartphone. Leaks say the new Fold 7 could hit just 3.9mm unfolded and 8.9mm folded, finally putting Samsung back in the mix.

The teaser shows a book-style foldable (no prizes for guessing it’s the Z Fold 7, not the Flip), and Samsung is talking up an “Ultra-level experience.” They’re making a big deal about how every generation is slimmer, lighter, and more durable—because, let’s face it, they have to. Foldables are a lot more competitive now.

We’ll get the full reveal at the next Galaxy Unpacked event. The event is expected in July in New York. But after letting rivals take the crown for thinness and pocketability, the pressure’s on for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to deliver. Stay tuned.
