Amazon foldable laptop rumors spark race with Apple and Huawei

0

Yesterday, Huawei surprised everyone with the MateBook Fold Ultimate, a laptop that unfolds to reveal a massive 18-inch display but folds down to the footprint of a standard 13-inch notebook. That’s a big flex in the world of foldables. But get this—Amazon is now rumored to be cooking up something similar, and it might hit the market before Apple’s take on the folding screen laptop.

This latest folding screen laptop rumor comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, the supply chain tipster who usually has a pretty solid track record. He’s dropped a nugget saying Amazon’s foldable device could enter mass production in late 2026 or 2027, beating Apple to the punch. Apple’s own foldable laptop project is apparently set for mass production in 2027 or 2028. So, Amazon might just get there first.

That’s about all we know for now. No specs, no photos, not even a hint at the hardware. What’s going to be interesting is the software angle. Will Amazon go with Windows, or will they tweak Fire OS for a folding laptop? As for Apple, the big question is whether they’ll use macOS or iPadOS on their foldable machine. Either way, we’re in for a lot more leaks and rumors before we see these in stores.

If the MateBook Fold is any indication, folding screen laptop rumors are only going to get louder from here. Stay tuned—this category is just getting started.
