One UI 8 update spotted on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

0

The One UI 8 update is already showing up in the wild. Samsung just rolled out the stable One UI 7 after months of delays, but signs of its next major firmware are here and it’s way earlier than expected.

Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

Tipster Tarun Vats has shared that the Korean Galaxy S25 Ultra is now running an internal One UI 8 build, which is based on Android 16. The firmware version? S938NKSU2BYD6, to be exact. That’s for the South Korean model (SM-S938N), in case you’re keeping track.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen One UI 8 update testing in the wild. The global variant of the S25 Ultra popped up with test firmware not long ago. Now, it looks like Samsung is expanding internal testing ahead of its second Unpacked event, rumored for July 2025.

Sadly, the leak didn’t give away much else. No big design leaks, no new features teased. But based on Samsung’s usual playbook, expect One UI 8 to be more of a refinement than a revolution. After all, One UI 7 is already packed with major changes, so it’s likely Samsung will keep things incremental this time around.

If the rumors are right, Samsung’s new foldables—the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7—will also ship with Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box. Google’s push to fast-track Android 16 might be speeding things up across the board, but don’t count on an early release for users just yet.
