Huawei’s New 16:10 Foldable is Perfection

While many nowadays share the sentiment that smartphone design has “peaked,” one could make the argument that there’s still some variety that could be had with foldable form factors, as seen with Huawei’s new phone. More specifically, the Huawei Pura X takes foldables in a somewhat new direction with its display, which unfolds into a 6.3-inch display when opened.

You see, what makes the Pura X’s screen special is its 16:10 aspect ratio, which gives users a lot more usable screen real estate for media consumption, especially when compared to the default 21:9 aspect ratio displays featured on most foldables. On the outside, the phone features a 3.5-inch square display; when folded, Huawei has designed the Pura X to be positioned in landscape orientation, the same way you’d hold a book for example.

Both of the phone’s displays also feature LTPO OLED screens with 120hz refresh rates, and there’s a triple-camera setup on the outer shell that consists of a 50MP main camera, 40MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. The phone is also powered by a 4,720 mAh battery setup with support for 66W wired charging speeds, and users can also charge it wirelessly at 40W.

Exclusive for Chinese markets, the phone runs on Huawei’s own HarmonyOS, and starts at around $1,000 (when converted).
