Android 16’s Second Beta Build Rolls Out

It wasn’t too long ago when Google announced the first build of Android 16’s beta version, which introduced some nifty new and upcoming features that have fans like us looking forward to its official launch. With that in mind, Google recently announced that Android 16’s second beta build is starting to roll out for eligible devices.

With that in mind, the new beta build comes with refinements to camera and media features – this includes support for hybrid auto exposure, as well as precise color temperature and tint adjustments. For developers, New Intent actions allow users to capture motion photos more easily, and Google adds that it’s continuing to work on UltraHDR images and HEIC encoding, as well as new parameters from the ISO 21496-1 draft standard.

With Android 16, devs will no longer be able to opt out of the edge-to-edge app display requirement, which should make for a more uniform experience across different apps, especially on Pixel devices. Other changes include accessibility improvements to TalkBack, automatic video quality adjustment for streaming apps, changes for live wallpaper content handling, and new permissions for health and fitness data.

As for its official launch date, it’s expected that Google will formally launch Android 16 sometime after April, possibly even coinciding with Google I/O which is scheduled to be held in May.
