Samsung Galaxy S26 could get a battery upgrade

Samsung is reportedly considering the integration of silicon-carbon battery technology into its upcoming Galaxy S26 series. This is according to a recent report by FNNews. This development could mark a significant advancement in smartphone battery performance.

At the moment, most consumer electronic devices that rely on batteries use lithium-ion batteries. For the most part it works. However, lithium-ion batteries have limitations in energy density and are prone to heating issues. Silicon-carbon batteries, on the other hand, offer higher energy density and improved thermal management. This means that devices can last longer without compromising on size or safety.

Samsung is probably still a little traumatized from the scandal of the Galaxy Note 7 which had batteries that exploded or caught on fire, so it’s nice to see that they are looking into safer alternatives.
