Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen runs into issues with magnetic accessories

0

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a built-in S Pen, a feature that has become standard since the Galaxy Note series was discontinued. However, it seems that recent reports indicate that magnetic accessories can cause issues with the S Pen.

Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

This is according to a report from Android Central where the publication’s Andrew Myrick experienced a pop-up warning stating, “Magnetic accessories can interfere with your S Pen: The magnets in accessories can interfere with the signals your S Pen sends to your phone. They may cause your S Pen to not write correctly or cause Air commands to occur unintentionally.”

If this issue sounds familiar, it’s because it’s not a new problem. If you recall, the Galaxy S24 Ultra faced similar interference problems with the S Pen when used with magnetic accessories. Interestinglyly enough, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s S Pen included Bluetooth and Air Command support. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen lacks these features. So we’re not sure why this is an issue for the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen.

That being said, not all accessories might interfere with the S Pen. According to the report, it suggests that the thickness of a phone case could have an impact. For instance, when using a MagSafe adapter with Samsung’s silicone case, the interference warning did not appear. This suggests that thicker cases might mitigate the issue.

However, this could be annoying for users who prefer using a thinner/slimmer case. There isn’t a workaround to this problem, so we suggest if possible, try out a case at a shop to see if it will cause interference. If it doesn’t, you’re good to go. Otherwise it’s going to be annoying if you have to send cases back and then shop for new ones online.
