WhatsApp could be getting ready for AI-powered chatbots

0

AI is all the rage these days so it’s not surprising to see more apps and services integrate AI models. WhatsApp is no exception. The company has already included some AI-powered tools in the past. Now according to a report from WABetaInfo, the app could be getting ready for AI-powered chatbots.

In the latest beta of the app, the publication noticed that there is a new AI-powered chats tab in the navigation bar. This new tab replaces the Communities tab. This doesn’t mean that WhatsApp is getting rid of Communities, but rather it suggests that the company could be shifting focus more towards AI services like chatbots.

Based on the report, this AI tab will play home to various AI tools. It could include AI tools from Meta along with chatbots from third-party creators that can be used in WhatsApp. It’s not surprising that WhatsApp is shifting more focus towards AI. AI-powered chatbots are incredibly useful, as we have seen in services like Gemini and ChatGPT.

By integrating these services within the app itself, it will keep users from leaving the app and switching to a third-party service. These changes aren’t live yet so if you don’t see it, don’t worry. Also, since it is part of the beta, it could be subject to change ahead of the public release. So that’s something to keep in mind.
