Nokia, Samsung Sign License Agreement for TV Hardware

Sure, it’s probably in no rush to rejoin the smartphone industry at this point, but Finnish tech giant Nokia has continued to work on a wide variety of different technologies for countless industry applications, often partnering with other big names in tech.

Most recently, Nokia announced that it’s signed into a multi-year video technologies license agreement with Samsung, which will cover the use of Nokia’s video technologies in Samsung’s TVs. The agreement also means that Nokia will receive royalty payments from Samsung, and is separate from the current 5G license between the two parties. Arvin Patel, Chief Licensing Officer, New Segments at Nokia comments:

We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Samsung covering the use of our video technologies in their world-class TVs. The agreement is yet another proof point of Nokia’s leadership in video and multimedia technologies, and further validation of our decades-long investments in multimedia R&D and standardization.
