Nintendo Finally Teases the Switch 2 in New Official Trailer

0

After months of countless leaks, rumors and speculation, Nintendo has finally given us an “official” look at its upcoming Switch successor, aptly named the Nintendo Switch 2. A new product trailer showing off the console-handheld hybrid’s design was uploaded across Nintendo’s many social media pages today, confirming a number of predictions about the console.

For one, the color combination mirrors the leaks shared by @OnLeaks on his Twitter page a while back, featuring an all-black design with colored accents for the analogue sticks. Based on the trailer, it seems that the removable controllers will now feature a magnetic mechanism to be able to stay attached to the Switch tablet.

Other new changes include a USB-C port at the top of the console as well as some redesigned elements including the volume rocker and exhaust vent, a U-shaped kickstand at the rear, and a much larger size this time around, with many speculating an 8-inch display. It’s still not clear if Nintendo is ditching AMOLED for the Switch 2, although there’s some talk about such a possibility.

The Switch 2 dock also features a redesign, with a curvier look of sorts in addition to a shorter height overall. The video also features a seemingly-new Mario Kart game that features multiple active players.

Aside from the design trailer though, no other details about the console such as price and availability have been revealed. Nintendo does add that it will be broadcasting a Nintendo Direct presentation on April 2, so we probably won’t see the Switch 2 in the flesh for a few more months at the very least.

Interested fans are also urged to sign up for upcoming Switch 2 experience events, which will be held in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
