Google Shows off the Pixel 9’s Design in New Video

0

Google’s Pixel series smartphones have been through a lot of hardware design changes since the launch of the first-generation Pixel back in 2017. The introduction of camera bar design with the Pixel 6 back in 2021 served to distinguish the phones apart from most other Android phones, and so far it’s proven to be an effective means of branding as well.

With that in mind, the Pixel 9 series features a lot of new aesthetic elements in comparison to older models, in addition to refinements to the camera bar design. In fact, Google recently published a video highlighting the Pixel 9’s overall design, as well as the different available color variants of the handset.

Compared to older Pixels like the Pixel 7 and 8, the Pixel 9 ditches the slightly-rounded back and sides of the phone with a more flat look (ala iPhone), and the camera bar has been redesigned to be an island, forgoing the slopes that previously connected the Pixel’s camera window to the sides of the phone.

It’s interesting to note however that the upcoming Pixel 9a (rumored to arrive in March this year) removes the camera bar design, instead opting for a simple lens cutout on the rear panel. As for the Pixel 10, no design leaks have appeared at the moment, although that’s bound to change once we get closer to the Pixel 10 series’ launch date.
