PSA: WhatsApp will no longer work on these devices

0

Generally speaking, we upgrade our mobile devices every few years. For some it’s faster, maybe every 2-3 years. Others might take longer, upgrading only 4-5 years. If you happen to own a very old phone, or know someone that does, then you might want to note that WhatsApp will no longer work on these devices.

This is according to a report from AndroidInfotech where the site has published a list of around 70 devices that WhatsApp no longer work on. Note that these devices are very, very old. Most of them are about 10 years old, if not older. There’s a good chance that most of you have upgraded since then.

However, just in case you are still using these phones or know someone who does, it’s time for an upgrade. It’s not surprising that Meta has decided to deprecate WhatsApp support on these older devices. It doesn’t make sense for them to ensure the app works on a device a decade old. This change has already come into effect from January 1, 2025, so check the list below to see if your device is in there.
