One of the perks of in-display fingerprint sensors is that it creates a more seamless look. The downside is that they are generally a bit slower compared to more traditional capacitive sensors. The good news for Samsung Galaxy S24 owners is that the upcoming One UI 7 update will make the fingerprint sensor a lot faster.
In a video shared on X by Ice Universe, it shows how the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S24 seems a lot faster than before. This is largely thanks to the faster transition animations that makes the unlocking process seem a lot faster. That being said, SamMobile notes that the handset in the video has its Always On Display enabled.
This means that if you turned off the feature, your experience might not be that different than right now. This is a welcome update, regardless. To be fair to in-display sensors, while they might seem slower, the difference is negligible. It’s not as if the difference in speed is a few seconds.
For most users it probably isn’t that noticeable to begin with, but hey, any improvements to speed and efficiency are always welcome. Note that this is in the One UI 7 beta, so unless you’re taking part in the beta program, you’ll have to wait for the official roll out to check out these changes.
