Smartphone technology has peaked. There’s really no two ways around that. This is why handset makers need to find new and innovative ways to make their devices stand out from the competition. In realme’s case, the company has opted to launch a new phone in the form of the realme 14 Pro series.
What makes this device different is that it features a back that changes color based on the cold. The handset was designed in collaboration between realme and Valeur Designers, a Nordic industrial studio.
The back of the phone features a pearl-like texture. This texture isn’t just about how it feels, but also how it can react and change color based on the temperature. This is thanks to the use of thermochromic pigments. This results in the color changing from pearl white to blue when the temperature drops below 16C.
What’s particularly unique about this is that the pattern on the back will be different from phone to phone. This means there are no two realme 14 Pro phones that look alike.
As for its hardware, the handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. It also boasts IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications, along with a quad-curved display that has a 93.8% screen-to-body ratio.
