One of the benefits of being part of Apple’s ecosystem is that devices work well with each other. One of those features is Handoff, where you can pick up where you left off on a call, a website you were browsing, from one device to another. Now it looks like Google’s answer to Handoff is starting to roll out to more Android devices.
According to a report from Android Police, it seems that the cross-device feature is rolling out to more Android devices. Prior to this, Google had essentially limited the feature to its own Pixel devices as well as Samsung devices. Based on this report, where Android Police’s Chandraveer Mathur is using the Nothing Phone, it seems that Google is pushing it out to non-Pixel and non-Samsung devices as well.
It works similarly to Apple’s Handoff, except that it is now for Android. In case you’re unfamiliar, Handoff is where if you’re on a FaceTime call on your iPhone, you can easily move it to your Mac or iPad as long as you’re signed into the same account. It also works with websites where if you’re browsing on your phone while outside, you can move it to a larger device like a MacBook or iPad quickly and easily.
Based on the screenshot, it seems that the features will be quite limited initially. However, it appears that there are plans to add more features in the future.
