The Pixel 10 is one of the phones that we’re looking forward to in 2025. This is because for the first time ever, the Pixel 10 is expected to feature a completely custom Tensor chipset. This is versus the current Tensor chipsets which are reportedly based on Samsung’s Exynos. Now a new report claims that the Pixel 10 could end up using some MediaTek technology.
According to a report from Android Authority, they claim that for the Pixel 10, Google could ditch the use of Qualcomm’s chipsets in favor of MediaTek. Unfortunately, not much is known about the modem and what kind of features it brings to the table. At the moment, the Pixel 9 series uses the Exynos Modem 5400.
This isn’t surprising because like we said, the Tensor series of chipsets is based on the Exynos lineup. MediaTek has been gaining a bit of popularity as of late. While the company was initially known for its budget chipsets, MediaTek’s newer flagship chipsets have proven itself to be capable of holding its own against Qualcomm.
Google isn’t alone in trying to find new modem solutions. Apple is currently using Qualcomm’s modems but the company does have plans to eventually introduce its own solution. Either way, we’ll probably have more details come 2025. Until then, take this with a grain of salt.
