Price hikes could be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S25

0

Samsung’s flagship lineup has never been cheap, but come 2025, it seems that the price of the Galaxy S25 series could see an increase. This is according to a report out of South Korea via Yonhap News who cites an industry source who claims that the price of the new flagship phones could go up.

There are several factors apparently at play here. For starters, the use of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite are to “blame”. The latest chipset from Qualcomm is said to be more expensive than its predecessor. So, rather than absorbing the costs, Samsung is expected to pass those costs down to their customers.

Another reason for a possible increase in the price of the Galaxy S25 series is the exchange rate between Samsung and Qualcomm. Due to the ongoing political issues in South Korea, the exchange rate between the US Dollar and the Korean Won is increasing. This means that the Korean Won is starting to lose some of its value.

Fluctuations in currency exchanges are normal, but the political issues in the country right now could cause more dramatic swings. As such, Samsung could be looking to increase the price of their new phones as a way to hedge against the potential exchange rates. We’ll have to wait until 2025 to get a clearer picture of the price. For now, it’s something to keep in mind.
