The cameras in our smartphones have come a long way. Back in the day, VGA cameras were the norm, but these days shooting 4K or 8K footage is possible. So much so that the upcoming “28 Years Later” movie was revealed to have been entirely shot on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
For those unfamiliar, “28 Years Later” is the sequel to “28 Days Later” which was originally released back in 2002. It stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes, just to name a few of the big names that make up the cast of characters. The movie is directed by Danny Boyle who used the iPhone 15 Pro Max to shoot the entire movie.
We have to say that judging by the trailer, you couldn’t really tell that an iPhone or a smartphone was used to film the movie. However, to be fair, given the gritty and chaotic nature of the film, maybe it wasn’t entirely necessary to use cinema grade equipment to shoot it.
We can’t speak to how good the movie is since it is only expected to be released in 2025, but it is quite inspiring. So, if you are a budding filmmaker and you’re on a budget, don’t be so quick to dismiss your smartphone’s camera capabilities just yet.
