The recent flood of compact wireless microphones on the market at the moment has certainly proven to be a convenient and cost-effective way for content creators and even larger production teams to record their audio on-the-go, with countless brands and manufacturers offering their own take on portable wireless mics.
Not one to be left behind, BOYA recently announced its BOYA Mini microphone, which is perhaps one of the smallest wireless mic kits that we’ve seen so far. In addition to its rather portable size, it’s wallet-friendly as well, coming in at just around $45. What can you expect from it though? Let’s take a look.

Hardware and Design
The entire point with the BOYA Mini’s design is that it’s small – it’s meant to be easily brought around without much fuss, and should be ideal for content creators, journalists, and other users looking for a wireless microphone setup that can easily fit in their pocket or backpack. In fact at first glance you might even mistake it for a pair of wireless earbuds due to the charging case.
Weighing at 5 grams, the BOYA Mini comes with a simple design that can be easily clipped onto one’s clothes and doesn’t stand out too much. The charging case’s 260 mAh battery can provide up to 30 hours of maximum battery life with combined charging intervals, and each charge lasts for up to six hours of usage. The case also houses two transmitter units, as well as a transmitter. There are two transmitters included with the box, which come with USB-C and Lightning port connectors.
Sound Quality and Features
With a wireless range of up to 100 meters, the BOYA Mini manages decent sound quality, although don’t go expecting too much – the budget price and diminutive size somewhat affect the overall sound, especially when compared to more expensive microphones from BOYA (or competing brands for that matter). It does come with audio features such as 48kHz/16-bit sampling rate and 80dB SNR, which are nice to have at this price.
The BOYA Mini also comes with different levels of noise cancellation, which do come in handy depending on your immediate surroundings. There are also a handful of built-in voice changer features, which are mostly there for a bit of added amusement or enjoyment. It should be noted though that there’s no built-in monitor on the charging case or transmitters, so operation is a bit basic in that regard.
Final Thoughts
For a price that’s less than fifty bucks, the BOYA Mini is a great solution for folks after a relatively-affordable wireless microphone solution that’s lightweight on both their pockets and wallets. The ease of use and impressive battery endurance are highlights of the microphone, and as far as features go you do get the essentials, with even a bit of added noise cancellation.
However, folks looking for a more powerful setup in terms of audio quality with more versatile hardware might want to look elsewhere, although this will understandably cost you more. At the end of the day though, the BOYA Mini fills a spot in the market and is easily accessible for a lot of consumers.
