Huawei Debuts its New Mate 70 Series Devices

0

While Huawei has been out of the North American smartphone market for quite a number of years now, the brand is still going strong in Asian markets, and its newest Mate 70 series phones are a great example of this. Priced starting at around 700-800 USD (when converted), the phones pack some rather attractive specs.

Both the Mate 70 and 70 Pro are rated for IP69 dust and water resistance and feature a premium-looking design with a flat frame for the Mate 70 and a curved frame for the Pro, with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display on the Mate 70 and a larger 6.9-inch panel on the Pro model. Both screens also offer FHD+ resolution and a variable refresh rate of up to 120hz.

For imaging, Huawei has equipped the Mate 70 and 70 Pro with a 50MP main camera with a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0 and OIS, as well as a 40MP ultrawide lens. The Mate 70 includes a 12MP periscope telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom, while the Pro comes with a 48MP periscope telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom.

In terms of performance, Huawei’s Kirin 9100 chipset runs the show with HarmonyOS 4.3, while a 5,300 mAh battery powers the Mate 70, although there’s a slightly-larger 5,500 mAh cell for the Mate 70 Pro. There’s no word of an international launch at the moment, as the phones are exclusive for Chinese markets.
